Shower Rail Buying Guide

A Beginners Guide to Buying a Shower Curtain Rail

Here is our handy guide to buying a shower curtain rail for your bathroom. It probably seems straightforward but here are a few tips to ensure you get the right one, that it will look great and last for many years to come.

At Shower Rails 4u we have more than 10 years experience of selling shower rails online and we pride ourselves on selling only rails made from materials that will last the test of time; brass, stainless steel, aluminium and even some plastics.

Bathrooms are wet and steamy environments, so you must avoid installing products made from mild steel at all costs, they will turn to rust sooner or later (generally sooner!). Be sure it is not mild steel before you install a product. Weve seen lots of suppliers selling shower rails that claim to be stainless steel or brass, that turn out to be mild steel (especially on eBay). How can you check if its mild steel? Simply get a magnet and touch it to the surface of the product, if the magnet sticks, its mild steel! Magnets will not stick to brass, aluminium or stainless steel. You can order from us with 100% confidence, because we care.

After material, the next factor that will be important to you is the style. Our two best selling ranges are i) our Contemporary Stainless Steel Shower Rails, which are a modular design that can be cut down in size if required. They come in a multitude of sizes and shapes, and are made from stainless steel, and ii) our Traditional Victorian Oval Shower Rails, made from rigid brass tubing with a durable high polish chrome finish. These are ideally suited to traditional bathrooms, especially where a roll top bath has been installed.

We also stock a selection Cheaper Shower Rails made from aluminium, that range from straight shower poles to an incredible custom bending aluminium and plastic hybrid that can be formed with radius or angles with relative ease.

There are a huge number of shapes to suit all sorts of baths and showers, including curved shower rails to suit corner baths or to simply give more 'elbow space' in a regular rectangular bath. Weve created a specific page to enable you to select your Shower Curtain Rail By Shape, alternatively you can call our helpful Pre-sales team and theyll guide you through selecting the right shower rail for your needs.

Adjustable Shower Curtain Rails

Since we care about design more passionately than most, the majority of our products have some form of adjustability, to give them a greater level of flexibility and a wider range of versatility on installation.

With our traditional rails this comes in the form of ceiling and wall stays that can be cut down to required length or even replaced with an optional 750mm extension for customers with particularly high Victorian ceilings. Our modular stainless steel rails come with snug fitting joins, heavy duty wall fixings, elbows and ceiling stays that can rotate to accommodate angled roof lines that are often found in cramped British bathrooms or loft conversions en-suites shower rooms.

Check out each product for full details on it specifics or call us for help in finding the right rail for your installation.
